Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have invited online applications for 119 Section Controller posts under Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 03/2026. Graduate candidates aged 20–33 years (as on 01.07.2026) can apply online from 15 July 2026 to 14 August 2026.

RRB Section Controller Eligibility Criteria 2026

Nationality

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal, or
  • A subject of Bhutan, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India (certificate of eligibility required)

Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold a Graduate Degree from a recognized University or its equivalent. Candidates awaiting final results of the prescribed qualification are NOT eligible to apply.

No age relaxation is allowed to SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates applying against unreserved vacancies. If eligible for relaxation on multiple grounds, the highest applicable relaxation will be given.

Medical Standard

The prescribed medical standard is A-2, requiring distant vision 6/9, 6/9 (without glasses) and near vision Sn 0.6, 0.6 (without glasses), along with normal colour vision, binocular vision, night vision, and myopic vision. Candidates who have undergone Lasik or any other corrective eye surgery are not eligible for this post.

RRB Section Controller Salary 2026

The post of Section Controller carries Level 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC) with an initial basic pay of Rs. 35,400 per month. Detailed break-up of allowances (DA, HRA, TA etc.) is not specified in the notification.

RRB Section Controller Selection Process 2026

Selection for the post of Section Controller involves the following stages:

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT): Single stage, 120 minutes, 100 questions, with negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer
  2. Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Shortlisting to the extent of 8 times the vacancies; candidates must secure a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each test battery to qualify; no negative marking
  3. Document Verification (DV): Shortlisting at 1:1 ratio of vacancies, based on 70% weightage to CBT and 30% weightage to CBAT
  4. Medical Examination: As per Medical Standard A-2

How to Apply for RRB Section Controller 2026

  1. Visit the official website of the chosen RRB (list provided below)
  2. Click on the CEN 03/2026 application link and complete “Create an Account” (details cannot be modified later, including mobile number and email ID)
  3. Authenticate identity using DigiLocker or Aadhaar during account creation (recommended)
  4. Log in and fill out the online application form with personal, educational, and category details
  5. Capture a live photograph through webcam or mobile camera as per specifications (pre-existing photos are not accepted)
  6. Upload scanned signature (JPG/JPEG, 30–49 KB) and SC/ST certificate if applicable (PDF, under 400 KB)
  7. Select RRB and Railway Zone preference (final and cannot be changed later)
  8. Pay the applicable examination fee online
  9. Submit the application and save the confirmation for future reference

Candidates can apply to only one RRB. Applications submitted to more than one RRB will lead to rejection of all applications and debarment.

Important Instructions

  • Candidates awaiting final results of the prescribed educational qualification are not eligible to apply
  • Application modification (except “Create an Account” details and chosen RRB) is allowed from 17.08.2026 to 26.08.2026 on payment of Rs. 250 modification fee
  • Center/city allocation for CBT/CBAT depends on technical and logistical feasibility; requests for change of exam centre are not entertained
  • Banned items in the exam hall include mobile phones, watches, calculators, pens, bags, and other electronic devices
  • Free Sleeper Class Railway Pass is admissible only to SC/ST candidates on request
